English National Ballet
“Cristobal's expertise was a huge asset. He created a number of engaging projects which formed part of the marketing campaigns for various productions, some of which were subsequently shown on national television (eg. BBC and SKY News). Our online audiences increased substantially under their watch.”
– Emma Simon (Head of Marketing at the English National Ballet)
I was commissioned to create a series of visual works that reflected the rebranding of the English National Ballet dance company under the new Artistic Director Tamara Rojo.
With screenings on the BBC and over a million views on Facebook, I created projects that relayed impressions and variations on the kinetic and balletic process.
In consultation with the choreographers, Itzik Galili for Dance GB with John Cage, Senior Principals Elena Glurdjidze, Erina Takahashi, and Fernanda Oliviera, as well as rising stars Vadim Muntagirov, Ksenia Ovsyanick, Esteban Berlanga and Lauretta Summerscales.
I wanted to communicate through the moving images, that movement can convey complex emotions on screen. With an 'against type' approach I was launching a different way of seeing ballet in a post-modern world of packaged cinematics.
